Louisiana talks, June 2012

I will be giving three talks on my research in Louisiana next month:

– Friday 1st June, at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Orleans, for the French Colonial Historical Society meeting in New Orleans, May 30-June 2, 2012; , Panel 6b. Floods, Droughts, and Diseases: Environmental Catastrophes in the French Colonial Empire — I will present a paper entitled: “Saint-Domingue, Nature and the Environment in the XVIIth-XVIIIth century”

– Monday, June 4, 6:30pm, at the South Regional Library in Lafayette, LA: “From France to Louisiana: Acadian Refugees’ Emigration in the 18th Century” at . This will be based on my recent book “Les Réfugiés acadiens en France
(1758-1785)” published in Québec in 2009 (and soon to be republished in France by the Presses Universitaires de Rennes).

– Tuesday, June 5th, at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, at 12:30: “A naked pearl? Haiti’s environmental history 1492-today”.
